34th Street Cafe and Grill

I came in for a quick lunch. I ordered a tuna salad sandwich and ice tea. That came to about $15 before tip. That seemed to be high. I was asked if I wanted to add a side salad. I didn't see a price on the menu for that so I asked. Over $4.00 so no thanks. I was never asked if I was taking it to-go but they gave it to me in a bag. The tuna salad was bland and under seasoned. Very mediocre sandwich for the price.

Love this place, had never had tortilla soup before and since I tried it there I always ask for it.

Had the grilled salmon salad, it was perfect! My boyfriend had the burger, and it was one of the best we've ever tasted.

34th Street is consistently a solid pick for lunch and dinner. The service is friendly and never rushed, the food is comfortable without being boring, and the other patrons are always a fun cast of characters.

Wonderful french fries!

I'm a favor runner which means that I go to many places not just restaurants and this place has moved to being one of my favorites. Great hospitality

Great little place. The host is gracious and friendly. The chef was kind enough to personally visit our table for questions on the delicious white bean soup

The burger and fries were okay. The service was good, but the price is pretty high for how mediocre the food is.

I attended an event today catered by 34th Street Cafe. I couldn't help but go back for seconds for more Chinese Hack Salad (just the right touch of sweet with a spicy kick at the end) and another quarter of a veggie sandwich. So much flavor! They are top on my list to visit for lunch one day this week!

I have been here many times over the last 10 years. This is one of the best and laid back eateries in Austin. The chef has a magic touch and he turns out some of the most delicious offerings. The wine selection here is also good and you get a generous pour. At the end of your meal make sure you try dessert. One that they seem to always have is the coconut cake. Awesome. The coffee must also be tried. Their new coffee maker turns out a wonderful flavorful cup. Oh, and I almost forgot....if you like french fries they have the best.....hot, tasty and nicely spiced.

Delicious Gazpacho and Caesar salad

Our group had a variety of foods - from burger and fries or a shrimp salad to a full lamb chop meal. It was all excellent.

Great location behind Seton Medical Center Austin and across the street from the jobsite trailer. Great service and food. The guys LOVE the brussel sprouts. I like the venison burger and spicy chicken tacos.

Has a varied menu. I ate a cheeseburger that was very good. I usually ask places to cut certain things from the burger, e.g., pickles, onions. Most places don't get it right. They did here. Staff is pleasant and helpful.

So cool and enjoyable place

A small, cozy venue just off N. Lamar, I found 34th Street Cafe the kind of place to return to. Super friendly people work there, and the food, though somewhat pricey is well worth the money. I ordered a turkey Reuben, iced tea, and split a piece of coconut cream cake. All of it totally tantalizing! Great place for small meetings and/or showers too!

Horrible costumer service. I placed a Togo order over the phone and when I arrived to pick up my order I walked in and went straight to the cash register. Nobody greeted me and nobody asked if they could help. 3 people walked up to the register and didn’t say a word to me. Finally I asked the man at the register if this is where I can payout for my to go order. He rudely demanded me to be patient and stated that everyone was busy. all they had to say was “one moment please someone will be right with you” instead I stood there in front of the cash register for 5 minutes and was told to be patient like a child. PATHETIC.

We dine here regularly. The food is always fresh and delicious, and the service is impeccable I often have the chicken piccata, delicious! My son usually gets the brisket burger. He's somewhat of a burger aficionado and claims that this is the best burger in town. I also like that it's one of the few restaurants these days where one can comfortably converse with their dinner companions. It's quiet enough to do so. I often take out-of-town company here, and everyone leaves happy.

A few of the things I loved: Very friendly customer service and I had the roast beef & gouda sandwich which was great. the sandwich had a very generous amount of meat, which I really appreciate. Toasted bun with melted cheese, nice warm meat with cool pink center. An amazing place to get roast beef.The only downside I had was the seating area. It's clearly a popular spot, and I went at 12:15 on a weekday. After ordering, stood for about 10 minutes waiting for a table to be free to sit. Parking can be equally stressful. As I was leaving, around 1:15, it had died down.I'll definitely go again, but probably not at 12:00 hour.

I've frequented the cafe for years.. wonderful food and exceptional service. We were recently at Seton overnight and I got a big to go order and it was really nice to be able to walk right over and get some really good food.

Excellent location for quality Cafe food. everyone at our table was enjoying everything. the staff was very welcoming and observant. the bill was well within reason for the quality. kinda of like a place in houston that i enjoyed.

This is a nice little place where you can grab a decent lunch during the work week. Their Italian sandwich is pretty large as it's the size about an old discman, that is if you're old enough to know what that is, if not, Google it. It'll be good to for you to know what came before the iPod. It'll add culture into your life, albeit pop. Anyways, their fries are crispy and just fried perfectly in my book. My only regret is that I don't work in the area, otherwise I would frequent it more to try their other options like their venison pizza.

Surprisingly really good food to be found here. Highlight was the coconut cake they have. It was recommended by a friend of mine and it didn't fail one bit. Parking is a bit tough. If you're at the hospital near by and need to get something better than the cafeteria food, I'd definitely recommend this place.

One of my favorite places. Neighborhood atmosphere and service with excellent food and ambiance. We started with this as a special date place and now it is a go to to bring friends.

One of my favorite lunch spots. Out of the different specials they feature during the week, the meatloaf and chicken piccata are especially delicious. The peach tea is better than most. The manager is super friendly and accommodating, he goes out of his way to make sure you feel welcome and stay happy. I read that they have a new executive chef, so I’m excited to try out some of the new menu additions next time I go.
